Google Experimenting with Images on its Homepage

Google is known for keeping the design of their popular homepage relatively simple with just a search box but they now seem to be testing a very different variation, one that features an image gallery of popular search phrases.
These images, arranged in the form of a rotating carousel, are linked directly to the corresponding search results pages similar to Google Doodles. I recently ran into this experiment on the Google India (Hindi) homepage though it was a pretty brief encounter.
